George Giavis



George has over 20 years of experience working in some of the top salons in London, New York and LA. He now has his own salon in Sydney’s East and frequently travels the world, working behind the scenes at many red carpet events. As a self-confessed beauty product junkie, he has been responsible for bringing many cult beauty brands to Australia and has his own high-fashion hair accessories label.

  • Who or what has shaped your idea of beauty?

    I always think of legendary Hollywood screen sirens like Marilyn Monroe, Grace Kelly, Audrey Hepburn, Elizabeth Taylor and Rita Hayworth – they defined beauty and still inspire it today. 

  • How does the busy modern day woman keep looking fresh?

    Subtle changes to your make-up and hair at the start of each new season are the key to looking fresh. 

  • Is there a fragrance that gives you a strong sense of nostalgia?

    Guerlain's Shalimar – it always reminds me of the fashionable streets of Paris.

  • How do you transform your skin when it's feeling a little lacklustre?

    Dry body brushing works miracles on lacklustre skin, while regular exfoliation is a must for a glowing face.  

  • What's one beauty convention that you think will never go out of fashion?

    Red lipstick.

  • What's the best beauty advice someone has given you that you still swear by today?

    Apply a drop of toothpaste to a pimple as an overnight spot treatment.

  • Which 2013 runway beauty trend is worth trying?

    Smouldering, smokey cat eyes.
