    1. I always smile when applying my eye cream. It shows me the spots that I can’t afford to miss. Having said that, I usually apply eye cream all around the eye; the upper lid is just as prone to ageing as the lower lid.

    2. After applying mascara, I immediately use a spooly brush to position my lashes. A makeup artist once explained to me that mascara is like a setting lotion; you need to get to it and work it before it dries. It’s such a gem of a tip. I’ve found that even the most ordinary mascaras can make lashes look good if you play around with them a little.

    1. Fill in your brows with a pencil or powder for instant polish - it'll draw attention to your eyes.

    2. Before you apply your eyeshadow, blend a nude eye primer or even a little concealer over your eyelid to disguise any pink or purple tones. It'll make your shadow sing and keep it in place all day.

    1. Battle raccoon eyes by using waterproof mascara on your lower lashes. With more staying power than regular formulas, waterproof mascaras won’t flake off so they’re rub and budge proof.

2.Your hair is like a sponge and can only soak up so much moisture. Get the most out of your exxy conditioning hair treatment by always applying it to towel-dried, not wet hair.

    1. I like to get the protein hair straightening treatments, as I have unruly hair and it makes it smoother and easier to manage.

    2. Gentle regular exercise really helps keep the skin glowing.

    3. I always try to drink lots of water through the day.

    4. I like to allow myself regular little indulgences – whether it is a collagen face mask once a week, a pedicure or a fantastic facial, doing something nice for yourself always makes you feel better about yourself!

    1. Take time to schedule a series of glycolic peels with your favourite facialist to help undo the damage done in summer.

    2. Keep eyeshadow locked in place by using an eyelid primer. Your eyes will thank you for it

Hold up When you’re going to all the effort of doing your make-up for a night out, you want to make sure that it stays in place the whole evening. Always start your beauty routine by using a primer to protect the skin as well as giving traction for the make-up to hold on to. Then once you’ve applied your make-up, finish with a spritz of make-up fixing/setting spray to hold it all exactly where you want it.

Eye spy The skin around your eye area is extremely fragile and delicate, meaning you need to use a different technique to apply your eye cream. To properly apply an eye cream, use the fingertip of your ring finger (this is the smoothest finger) to lightly pat, press and roll – not rub – the eye cream in under the eyes and on the eye lids.

    1. Tap a teeny amount of lip balm on the cheek and orbital bones. Instant radiance, even if you’re exhausted.

    2. Make your own zit-zappers by freezing rose water. The fragrant cubes will de-swell and sooth.

    1. I usually keep my nails short and colour-free to avoid drawing any unnecessary attention to my fingers (they’re not my favourite body part). But recently I decided to run a little experiment: every night for two weeks, I applied a cuticle and nail cream and massaged gently for a couple of minutes. And, dear reader, I am a convert. My fingertips are now smooth, hangnail-free zones that are just begging for a swipe of colour (I’m thinking berry).

    2. Alternate lighter cuticle oil for a heavier cream once a week to keep the area lushly hydrated.

    3. A hairstylist told me to detangle my hair before stepping into the shower – not when my hair is wet and coated in conditioner (wet hair is more delicate and prone to breakage).

    1. If you’re having trouble getting perfect flat iron waves look away from the mirror - avoiding your reflection means you won’t get confused with which way to flick.

    2. Fake-lash rule 101. Before application clean your lash line thoroughly, your lashes will adhere and stay on for longer.
